06/10/2025 We are made of and fueled by what we consume, so consuming quality food is the first step to maintaining a quality body—which is foundation for a quality life. Then, we must move and move well. And of course, we need our sleep. Good sleep is necessary for bodily recovery from every type of stress. I’m not suggesting we should be obsessed with health and fitness. In fact, to become a saint we shouldn’t be—but God wants us to “have life... in abundance” (John 10:10), and He gave us “dominion... over every living thing” (Genesis 1:28), including ourselves. Life, to the bipartite (body and soul) human, is a gift from God. The gift of our bodies must be stewarded, not only for our benefit, but for the benefit and service of others. Becoming responsible stewards requires planning and likely lifestyle changes, but after acquiring a small amount of knowledge and developing some good habits, being healthy requires only a minor amount of focus and energy. In fact, the focus and energy spent eating healthy foods, exercising, and sleeping pales in compared to the benefits we receive from engaging in these activities Join me in this simple yet profound act of stewardship: eat well, move well, sleep well, and honor the gift of our bodies as God intended. It’s not about perfection or obsession, but about building habits that sustain us for a life of abundance—a life where we can serve others with the strength and vitality that comes from first caring for ourselves. --- Email any questions, or comments to [email protected].
